Hidden Gem: Community College and Why it Can Be a Great Choice

Let’s face it, college is expensive! And scholarships are awesome, but not always accessible to everyone. As someone who pays for their whole college education out of pocket, community college seemed like a hidden gem to kick-start my college career. Whether you’re an untraditional student, international student, or anything in  between, community college can be a great resource for education! From more affordable  education to smaller classes so the learning experience is more personalized, community colleges are an awesome foundation to education as we know it.  

Debunking Community College Myths: 

1. Affordability = Low Quality. FALSE! 10/11 professors that I have had in my educational experience are professors at both universities and community colleges  and teach the same subject and the same material! 

2. It’s Just Like High School. FALSE! From student life activities to how the lectures are set up, it’s proven to not be like high school! The same fun and freedom in university  is also in the college next door! 

3. Students Attend Community College Because They Were Not Accepted into Universities. FALSE! As someone who had considered and applied to both universities and community colleges, and got into both, community college just ended up being a better fit pricewise and goal-wise!
